Compact Freshness Solution

Scento is a compact insert designed to sit inside pharmaceutical bottles and neutralize unpleasant Oduor through controlled fragrance release. It works without coming in contact with the medicine and does not alter its properties, functioning as a passive yet effective component within the packaging

Design Objective

The objective was to create a minimal, safe, and scalable solution that could deliver consistent fragrance diffusion across different bottle sizes and formats. The design needed to remain simple while ensuring clear separation from the medicine and reliable performance over time.

Challenges

The primary challenge was achieving consistent performance within a very small form factor. At the same time, placing such a small object inside a bottle introduced the risk of it being mistaken for a capsule, making safety and user perception critical considerations.

Design Consideration

Safety and usability were central to the design. The form needed to clearly differentiate itself from capsules while maintaining functionality. Airflow, material behavior, and long-term performance were carefully considered to ensure the insert works reliably in all orientations without causing confusion or risk.

Solution

Scento features a porous, air-passage structure that allows continuous airflow regardless of positioning. Its shape and proportions are intentionally designed to avoid similarity with capsules, reducing the risk of accidental ingestion. The internal structure and material enable controlled, gradual fragrance release, ensuring steady performance without an initial burst or rapid fade
