Ticket Design Marks 25 Years of Design Innovation

Pune, Maharashtra, September 2025. From a two-person studio in 2000 to a globally recognized, award-winning design house, Ticket Design marks 25 years of crafting impactful products and experiences.

25 Years of Ticket Design - Celebration

Founded by National Institute of Design alumni Balkrishna (Bala) Mahajan and Nishma Pandit, Ticket Design began as one of the early players in India’s product/ industrial design landscape. What started in a small Pune office has grown into a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers and strategists who have delivered 360+ projects for more than 100 clients worldwide.

A Journey Through Milestones

In its first decade, Ticket collaborated with brands like Whirlpool India and emerging startups, creating best-selling products and winning global recognition with an IDSA Silver Award in 2008. Since then, the studio has worked across home appliances, medical devices, automotive systems and packaging, partnering with leaders like Tata Motors, Perfint Healthcare and Blue Star to deliver designs that balance creativity with engineering precision.

Recognition on the World Stage

Ticket Design has earned global recognition with multiple Red Dot Awards for innovations like Crompton’s premium fans and Pregna’s Etherena® device, along with a Lexus Design Award (2020), Good Design Award (Japan, 2024), and honors from CII and Whirlpool India. These awards highlight more than trophies, they signal how an Indian design studio has set benchmarks in quality and imagination on the global stage.

People and Culture at the Core

Ticket Design’s team brings together India’s top design and engineering talent. The studio drives a user-centered, end-to-end process, conducting research and ideation, building prototypes, testing and moving to production, to help clients launch innovative, scalable and market-ready solutions.

Beyond the studio, Ticket Design strengthens India’s design ecosystem. Leaders Bala Mahajan and Nishma Pandit actively contribute to the Association of Designers of India (ADI) and the Pune Design Festival, while the studio mentors young designers, sponsors student awards like The Battle of Projects, and hosts open houses to connect academia with industry.

Looking Ahead

As it celebrates 25 years, Ticket Design is far from done. The studio is gearing up for the next era of challenges and opportunities, whether in electric mobility, sustainable packaging, IoT devices, or healthcare innovation. The founders emphasise, “Design is successful only when it can be delivered at scale,” highlighting their commitment to making ideas both visionary and practical.

With its multidisciplinary team, and continued passion for creating impact through conscious design, Ticket Design enters its next chapter, ready to keep pushing boundaries, proving once again that a homegrown Indian design studio can make a significant impact while staying rooted in its values.
